February 13, 201610 yr I started a preclear of two disks yesterday morning. One of the two appears to be stuck. The console has looked like this for hours. ================================================================== 1.15 = unRAID server Pre-Clear disk /dev/sdl = cycle 1 of 2, partition start on sector 1 = Disk Pre-Clear-Read completed DONE = Step 1 of 10 - Copying zeros to first 2048k bytes DONE = Step 2 of 10 - Copying zeros to remainder of disk to clear it = **** This will take a while... you can follow progress below: = = = = = = = = Elapsed Time: 27:26:22 1627502+4 records in 1627502+4 records out 106660163584 bytes (107 GB) copied, 26961 s, 4.0 MB/s Wrote 106,660,163,584 bytes out of 8,001,563,222,016 bytes (1% Done) The syslog is full of this error. Feb 13 10:11:37 NalboneFS1 kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdl, logical block 26005625, lost async page write I have attached the syslog. What does this error mean? Bad disk? Start over? nalbonefs1-syslog-20160213-1011.zip

It means that either you have a bad disk (or more likely) the disk has dropped offline for some reason. I suspect that you will have to reboot the system and start over. Should probably check all power and SATA cabling at the same time.
February 13, 201610 yr Author Okay. I'll try all that after the preclear of the other disk is complete.
