November 10, 200916 yr I have Celeron E1500 - 2.2GHz LGA 775 , 3sata hd's, 2x1gb 800 DDR2 & case/ps ready to go for my first unRAID server. I would like to spend less but a reliable mobo. I found this - ASUS P5KPL-AM SE - in Micro center on sale for $40. Do you think this is a good choice? I understand the mobo only support 4 sata, but I think I will not need more that this 3 hds for the next 10 yrs . Regards, bondul

Regards, bondul Check out the Hardware Compatibility Page for a list of all the LGA 775 boards that have been added to the list. My suggestion is to look for a board that has at least 6 SATA ports on it and some x1, x4, and/or x8 PCI-e slots in it. Do not skimp on a motherboard just to save some money.
November 11, 200916 yr I looked up your board on Newegg, and it reports only 2 SATA ports for this board. The picture only shows 2 also. I would look elsewhere.

I agree, the board only shows 2 expansion slots. with a 16x and a 1x PCIe. To add 4 more ports will cost $60 to $100 for a 4 port controller and $20-30 for a 2 port controller. This is provided the 16x can be used for a hard drive controller. You might be better off with an older/used recommended board from eBay. prostuff has a good point.
