Looking to Purchase unRAID

Featured Replies

I currently run a basic server on Windows 10  :'( and are currently looking for a more robust solution. Here is the hardware I am using:

Core i7 950 with 12gb ram (looking to upgrade to 24gb)

Evga X58 Motherboard

256gb Samsung 840 Pro + 1tb WD Black

Evga 960 Ti Video Card

Asus PCE-AC68 Wireless Card

Drobo 5d w/ 11tb of usable storage

I am curious if unRAID can accomplish all the things I am looking for, here is a list:

1. Minecraft server - Just a low population heavily modded instance for my friends and I. Used ubuntu server for this before, and I like it a bit better using putty to admin it.

2. Emby Server - I saw I can use a docker for this. My media is kept on the Drobo.

3. Game Streaming Server - Use Nvidia GameStream to stream internally to my Nvidia Shield TV

4. Network Bridge - AC Wireless to one of the Gigabit Ethernet ports

1) Yes, check out https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/mcmyadmin2/

2) Yep

3) Not as a docker, but a Windows VM would work fine for this. Check out https://lime-technology.com/gaming-on-a-nas-you-better-believe-it/ and

4) I'm not sure on this, maybe someone else can tell you. FYI, the trial version may be enough for you to figure that out. Edit: Based on the networks settings screen, this looks doable.

Make sure to to install Community Applications first thing. It makes installing dockers and plugins much easier!

I recommend LinuxServer.io's docker containers. http://tools.linuxserver.io/dockers

U need at least 2 drives for The unraid

I do not think that is correct. My brother's build works fine with 3 array drives and no parity drive. I don't see any reason at all why it wouldn't work with a single array drive.

I have another spare 1tb WD Black sitting around I can throw in so that is not a problem.

An array cant be one disk  ;) your brother Got 3 disk linked

The thing you linked to said that it has to be 2 drives due to the need for a parity drive.

While setting up my brother's server, it only had one drive initially(the others were in the mail). It worked fine.
