Should all hard drives SATA and IDE all be set to cable select or is it okay to make all the SATA drives set to Master and the two ide drives set to master and slave?  I have 4 sata ports and one ide port.  Installed I have 4 sata drives and two ide off the same cable.

 

I thought I read somewhere that all drives should be set to cable select but I don't see how that makes a diff?

    Good luck with finding that setting on SATA drives ;)

    For IDE, a.k.a., PATA, easiest to set jumpers to "cable select", then you don't have to be concerned with which connector (end or middle) it's connected to.

     

    For SATA, each connection is point-to-point, hence no 'master/slave' jumper.
