Replacing Mainboard

Featured Replies

Hey,

I use a raid of 10 drives (incl. Parity). Six connected via MB, four using an expansion card.

I would like to upgrade the MB/CPU. What is there I have to ensure not to lose the array?...

Don't drop the hard drives on the floor.  8)

That's about it!

The unRAID configuration is on the boot drive, and includes the serial numbers of all drives assigned.  The config does NOT contain any other hardware dependent info, so you can change out motherboard, CPU, NIC's, and controllers any time.  On boot, unRAID checks what's there and builds a completely new Linux system every time, specific to the current hardware only.  Makes it very portable!
