New to unRAID question about CPU and Motherboard

Featured Replies

Good day everyone!

I hope this is the right forum to ask this question.

I want to re-build my pc to a unraid server and workstation.

I am currently running a few drives in a RAID with Intel Rapid Storage Technology and Win 10. But i would like to switch from intel RST to unRAID.

I did a little research on my cpu and found out that it did not support VT-x and unRAID needs that ? My question, is it going to work or do I have to buy a new/different CPU?

My goal is it to have a VM for gaming and image editing and of course the raid functionality.

My specs:

CPU intel i7 4770K

Motherboard ASUS P8Z77M

Graphics card ASUS GTX 980

Help is highly appreciated!

Looks like your cpu does support vtx but not Vtd. You'll need vtd to assign different components of your system to individual vms.

Sounds like you'll need a differen cpu. Don't forget to ensure your motherboard supports vtx and vtd too.
