2 errors in syslog after changing motherboard

Featured Replies

I just changed motherboards to a Supermicro X7SBE-0 and I am getting 2 errors every time I boot. here's the errors:

Nov 28 10:33:39 Tower kernel: ACPI Error: A valid RSDP was not found 20090521 tbxfroot-219

Nov 28 10:33:39 Tower kernel: e1000e 0000:0f:00.0: pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting failed 0xfffffffb

Thanks

Bax

I should say that there are just 2 SUPERMICRO AOC-SAT2-MV8 and no other cards.

Never mind. I turned on ACPI in BIOS and both errors went away.

Hmm... I just wanted to bump this saying I have the exact same setup (SATA Cards & Mobo), and after disabling ACPI I also got those errors. However, the problem for me is that ACPI itself is causing me issues as well (randomly causing my disks to "hard reset" and "soft reset"). Now i'm stuck inbetween two problems. Does the "e1000e 0000:0f:00.0: pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting failed 0xfffffffb" matter? I'm on the latest BIOs for this board.. which seem way outdated (last release was 2008).

after disabling ACPI I also got those errors.

That can't be.

Disabling ACPI will never cause any problems. On any board.

But having a buggy ACPI, and enabling it -- now that can cause problems.

I've already comfirmed it, and just re-confirmed it.

ACPI Disabled = "e1000e 0000:0f:00.0: pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting failed 0xfffffffb" x2 in syslog on boot.

ACPI Enable = No error on boot.

I booted twice with each setting to make sure it wasnt just a random error. The OP also had the same issue.

After more searching I came across this: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=4813.msg44299#msg44299

Limetech claims that error is related to the linux kernel, however it doesn't seem to happen unless ACPI is disabled. Apparently harmless and will be fixed soon? 4.5.1 is looking more and more promising because it seems like all my problems should be fixed in it.

If you do some more reading you'll see that that's not really a error.

Besides, you don't need to worry about ACPI, unless you have some serious reason to believe that ACPI is crappy in that particular BIOS.

If I have ACPI enabled I experience random errors. I'll be transferring files over and then i'll get "network path no longer available" and have to retransfer everything. My mapped drives (in Windows) will also randomly disappear. I googled around with my syslog errors (I don't remember the exact error but it randomly made my hard drives "hard reset") and I found out it was related to ACPI. After disabling it i've been going good for 3 days, with the one exception of that "PCI error" that isn't really an error.

Maybe it's a conflict with "green" hard drives on this particular motherboard because i've seen other people on this mobo using unraid with ACPI enabled. I might call the motherboard company up, not having in bios update in 2 years is pretty bad.

Don't have those errors. Try checking the firmlevel and if necessary update it to the latest!
