April 1, 201610 yr I was doing a pre clear on an older WD Green 1.5 TB tonight and it seemed to drop off on my server, it wasn't visible anymore so I reset the connections and it showed up, indicating it had completed the pre read, so I restarted the pre clear skipping the pre and post read, and now its zeroing and crazy stupid speeds, is this normal? It finished with the following error: Disk /dev/sdn MBR could NOT be precleared Guess that's why it was going so fast, bad drive.

Can you please post a diagnostics file (which will include SMART reports). Tools>Diagnostics>Download
April 1, 201610 yr Sure, here you go. Well initially my thoughts here are that the disk "WDC_WD15EADS ..." is not recognised by unRAID. It is not referenced anywhere in the syslog. There is no SMART data for it either. Can you try replacing the SATA cable and rebooting and see if that makes a difference. In addition, is there any other unique information in relation to this drive e.g. is it using a Controller different to any of the other drives?
April 1, 201610 yr Author Thanks Danioj, but I am just going to put it down to a bad drive, I have used the same sata cable to pre clear over 20 drives recently without issue. Thanks for your time and interest.
