April 19, 201610 yr Hi. I am getting an error when starting a vm that i created on the unRAID server. The error reads: "internal error: early end of file from monitor: possible problem: 2016-04-19T07:50:47.411610Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=0a:00.0,bus=root.1,addr=00.0,multifunction=on,x-vga=on: vfio: error, group 4 is not viable, please ensure all devices within the iommu_group are bound to their vfio bus driver. 2016-04-19T07:50:47.411632Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=0a:00.0,bus=root.1,addr=00.0,multifunction=on,x-vga=on: vfio: failed to get group 4 2016-04-19T07:50:47.411640Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=0a:00.0,bus=root.1,addr=00.0,multifunction=on,x-vga=on: Device initialization failed 2016-04-19T07:50:47.411649Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=0a:00.0,bus=root.1,addr=00.0,multifunction=on,x-vga=on: Device 'vfio-pci' could not be initialized" If i have a look in the logs, i find this error: "Domain id=7 is tainted: high-privileges Domain id=7 is tainted: custom-argv Domain id=7 is tainted: host-cpu char device redirected to /dev/pts/0 (label charserial0) 2016-04-19T07:50:47.411610Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=0a:00.0,bus=root.1,addr=00.0,multifunction=on,x-vga=on: vfio: error, group 4 is not viable, please ensure all devices within the iommu_group are bound to their vfio bus driver. 2016-04-19T07:50:47.411632Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=0a:00.0,bus=root.1,addr=00.0,multifunction=on,x-vga=on: vfio: failed to get group 4 2016-04-19T07:50:47.411640Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=0a:00.0,bus=root.1,addr=00.0,multifunction=on,x-vga=on: Device initialization failed" I am still new to unRAID and Limetech, so have no idea where to start looking for the issue. Does anyone maybe have an idea what might be causing this? I am running unRAID 6 with a plus license and it is running on Linux 4.1.18. I create the vm with 100GB drive space to be stored on one of my array disks that contains a share i created for vm's. It was created with 4GB RAM and using 2 cpu cores and is pointed to a server 2012 os iso that is in another share on the server. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Alex.
April 19, 201610 yr You most likely have to enable the ACS override described here. That will separate your devices into their own iommu groups and you should be able to pass it through.
April 20, 201610 yr http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=44010.0 That fix is only for those that have more than 33 iommu groups.
