May 6, 201610 yr As much as i want to, i just cant bring myself to take a 30% single core hit in order to gain 70% higher multi core. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp%5B%5D=2337&cmp%5B%5D=2246 Well after sniffing around i figured out why its $200 and 105 watt. it runs 10% slower than the normal 120watt 2670 v3.
May 6, 201610 yr Does the ES in the ebay description denote Engineering Sample? These may not be final silicon.
May 6, 201610 yr Does the ES in the ebay description denote Engineering Sample? These may not be final silicon. They can also be custom order chips. In this case its a standard 2670, missing 2 mulipliers, in a 105 watt package. Their are some custom amazon data center es's floating around too. They are nice because they removed 1 turbo multiplier, but added 1 multiplier to all the cores, they run HOT though.
May 6, 201610 yr Be careful when buying ES CPUs. You might end up without Vt-d support. There is no info about S-spec number of the linked CPU and there is no info on Cpu-world about the ES version.
