yukonhijack
I have an unraid system that uses an AMD A4 processor with APU. I am considering a cheap swap put to an AMD A6 processor. Do you guys think this is worthwhile? I know its a small bump up, but I am bored and wanted a cheap project. Link to comment
garycase
You didn't note the specific A4 that you have 'nor the A6 you're thinking about, so it's impossible to say whether or not it would be enough of a bump up in performance to be worthwhile. Typical A4's have PassMark scores between ~ 1500 to as much as 2700. A6's range from ~ 1600 to just over 3000. Simple fact is it's unlikely there'll be enough difference to really matter. I'd save your $$ until you can afford a more significant upgrade. Look up your current CPU and see what its PassMark score is [ http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php ]. I wouldn't bother to upgrade unless you're at least doubling the score. Link to comment
