December 29, 200916 yr Getting ready to upgrade to the Pro license and would like some suggestions on a new flash drive. I was thinking 4GB was the sweet spot but would be willing to go higher if it makes sense to do so. Here are two that I've been looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220251 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820171337 Thanks!

You need to be careful with larger size drives... some BIOS will not recognize them as bootable, as they have geometry that is bigger than when the BIOS was written to expect. For 99% of unRAID users, it makes NO sense to go over 1Gig. I realize it will soon be difficult to find a drive so small, but that is the truth of it. A 4Gig would be excessive, and anything over that way excessive. 2 Gig is probably the sweet spot, in m opinion. Joe L.
December 30, 200916 yr Thanks Joe! I'll start looking for a 1 or 2 GB drive! Here is the actual used/free space on a 1 Gig drive as reported by one recent post. /dev/sdg1 usb-USB_Flash_Disk_AAXXXXXXXXXXXX-0:0 /boot vfat 1.04G 56.95M 6% 982.42M Actual space used = just under 60 Meg, with 982 Meg free... Now this is without any add-ons, but still there is tons of empty space. Prices have really dropped in recent years. It was not that long ago where a 1Gig drive was $30 or more. The 4Gig drive you linked to at $12 is as good as any as long as it boots... Not sure if the smaller drives will be that much less expensive, especially if you factor in shipping when ordering by mail.
December 30, 200916 yr I picked up a Lexar Firefly 2GB from Amazon w/ free shipping for my current unRaid build and it's working great. Just about the same amoutn of space used as Joe is showing. It's small enough to not stick out past the back edge of my Norco 4220 when plugged into the rear backplane USB port.
