SMB 3.0.2 Multichannel (SMB Direct/RDMA)

Hi,

does unRAID 6 support the SMB3 Multichannel features as implemented by Microsoft from Windows 8.1 onwards (SMB 3.02 utilizing SMB Direct/RDMA) ?

Between two Windows PCs using 4-port Gigabit NICs and 4 ethernet cables that allows real world transfer speeds of almost 500MB/sec assuming you have multi-core CPUs installed in both machines as each multichannel lane would keep one logical core busy.

So the question is, will this work with a Windows PC on one end and an unRAID 6 server on the other?

Thanks & regards,

Marcel

Linux uses Samba to handle SMB, latest SAMBA releases, starting with 4.4.0, include experimental SMB multichannel support, unRAID v6.2beta21 and above include SAMBA with SMB mutichannel support, I've been experimenting with it but unable to make it work for now, note however that for at the moment it's only recommended for test environments, as there's a possibility for data corruption, more info here:
