August 16, 20169 yr I am wondering if there would be a benefit to partitioning a large SSD. The intent is to have a small docker space and the rest is for cache - to transfer Blu Ray rips and let mover do its thing. Thoughts on the would be welcome.
August 16, 20169 yr Don't see the point, because docker.img is an image file (ie: for all intents and purposes you can think of it as a partition) Appdata is treated as a share (set to cache-only). Other shares that are able to use the cache will just use what ever else is available.
August 17, 20169 yr Author Reading about the dangers of mover moving your dockers is the immediate reason. If you put the dockers at the root of the drive, I think mover is supposed to ignore them...I thought putting them in their own partition might be safer? Nay, not so?

Put them all in a appdata share set to be cache-only. Safer in their own partition. Sure. But then you're introducing a layer of complexity into unRaid that it's not really designed to handle, and basically you'd be on your own for supporting any issues that may result from it.
