Array has 1 disk with read errors. What should I do?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Last night I received an email from my unRaid server with the following message:

Event: unRAID array errors
Subject: Warning [ARK] - array has errors
Description: Array has 1 disk with read errors
Importance: warning

Disk 1 - WDC_WD60EFRX-68MYMN1_WD-WX91D6535JR9 (sdb) (errors 314)

On the main view:

Screenshot%202016-09-04%2016.41.47.png?dl=1

And the disk1 smart information:

What should I do? Should I be worried? Or is it "normal"?

Thanks a lot!

Well it didn't disable the drive so that's good. Maybe check your data connection.

Do you mean the sata connections?

Yup stupid autocorrect. SATA connections  ;)

Haha, will do! Otherwise nothing to fear about?

you could run a SMART short self-test from dashboard, might tell you more and check if any errors are logged.

Issues happened again ....

I run smart tests, and even if the quickest one succeed without issues, the longest fails at 10% with the following message: "Errors occurred - Check SMART report"

So here is the results:

ATA Error Count: 24 (device log contains only the most recent five errors)
  CR = Command Register [HEX]
  FR = Features Register [HEX]
  SC = Sector Count Register [HEX]

  CL = Cylinder Low Register [HEX]
  CH = Cylinder High Register [HEX]
  DH = Device/Head Register [HEX]
  DC = Device Command Register [HEX]
  ER = Error register [HEX]
  ST = Status register [HEX]

Anyone please :)

Disk info you listed looks fine. Can you replace your data cable and or controller you are plugged into? Pulling a diagnostic will help assuming you haven't rebooted the array.
