Reset disk spindown to default

Featured Replies

Hi,

I can't seem to reset my disk spindown to default. It is no longer an option since I manually set them for each disk. Any thoughts?

Also, if there was a global way to reapply the setting so I don't need to go into each disk, that would be even better! I tried in the disk settings section, but it only applies it to new disks that have been added to the array.

I'm on 6.1.9

Thanks!

There's no global way to change each, unless you set each to use the default, and then you can change the global spin down delay.

Something you can try is edit disk.cfg (on the flash in /config), with the system shut down.  Look for the spindownDelay vars.  spindownDelay is the global setting, applies to any drive set to use the default.  diskSpindownDelay.0="-1" is the parity drive set to default, default is "-1" (that's quote hyphen one quote).  diskSpindownDelay.1="-1" is Disk 1, and so on.

You might be able to get away with editing it while unRAID is running, but the array is stopped.  Edit it and save, then check the setting on any disk.  I think I would only change one value first, then start the array and see if the change worked or it reverted.

Sorry about the delayed response! Thanks for the tip! I ended up doing it manually, but this sounds logical and I'll definitely try it next time!

As for the first part, that was user error  :-[. On a mobile device (or at least my Nexus5 in Firefox), when you click the spindown option on the disk, it displays 30 minutes as the first in the list. If you scroll up, the default option appears. Perhaps something could be set so the list is presented from the first option, but certainly not a huge issue...

When opening the dropdown list (or any dropdown list for that matter) it will always show the current selection. In your case the setting was 30 minutes, and the default option is above that.

Ahhh. That explains it! Thanks :).
