How do I change the Drive names?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My unraid arrived today, and is now up and running with two drives in it. When  I mount the shares via SMB I get two available volumes, which is exactly as expected.

One is called Flash, and the other Disk1.

Flash is obviously the flash key.. but I want to change the Name of Disk1 to something else more descriptive.. How do I do this?

Regards

This topic is really old. Is the functionality to change the drive names available now? If so, how?

Thanks

I think that would be UserShares.

While you can't change the names of the disk shares through any documented feature, you can pretty easily add a new share name and turn off the disk shares. The means is by creating a samba addon configuration file.  I think it is called smbextra.conf but this is from memory and I'm sure someone will correct me if the name isn't exactly right. Post back if you need specific help once you've done some research of these forums.

Providing access through samba shares is defined through smb-extra.conf file as discussed in

^^ That link summed it up nicely. Thanks!
