reiserfsck errors: which fixes to run?

Featured Replies

I have just run reiserfsck on one of my drives and it has generated errors (see below).  Some are bad_indirect_item, but there are also some bad_stat_data.  Should I run reiserfsck --fix-fixable first, and then run reiserfsck --rebuild-tree?

Thanks.

Run with --rebuild-tree

  • Author

update:  I ran with rebuild and, as expected, there are files (4GB) in the lost+found folder.  How can I transfer these to a local drive so that I may look at them (assuming I can)?  In Terminal (Mac) using mv with sudo, will not work, nor will any of the permission changes using chmod (my knowledge here is far from complete).

Thanks again.

p.s. it occurred to my wee brain that I need to telnet over the server to access these files, but I am apprehensive about moving them to my local drive.
