Updated guide to switch from Phaze Plex plugin to limetech Plex docker

Featured Replies

I have been looking around and cant find an updated guide on switching from the Phaze plex plugin to the limetech plex docker.  As far as I can tell the last update of Plex has caused my server to start rebooting on its own so I would prefer to just have a VM crash than my entire server.  I have the limetech docker installed but Im not sure what settings I need to change in the Plex docker so that it points to my existing libraries.

Thanks.

Can't offer direct help, but my best advice is to educate yourself on docker path mappings, what they are and how they effect what paths the program sees.

In a nutshell, you need to adjust the paths so that the files are still in the same location from plex's point of view.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance, but I use emby instead of plex.

Ok, thanks.  Im just a bit surprised that all of the guides are outdated with no direct help on setting up Plex in a docker.

Do you have any other working dockers? Have you read the Docker FAQ?

If you have already installed the docker then you should be able to stop it, copy everything from your plugin install, then restart it. The trick is knowing what to copy and where to copy it, which will depend on how you have set things up. If you take a look at the files the plugin created, and the files the docker created, then you should be able to figure this out.

Also, the plex docker from LSIO is perhaps better supported than the limetech version.
