October 3, 20169 yr I know to increase the vdisk size, click on the NAME (not icon) of the VM in the VM tab. However ... My Capacity is changed, but my Allocation has not. How do I increase the allocation? Even when I increase the allocation, how do I increase the size of the disk within Windows? Thanks, Richard Searches I have done to answer this question include: Allocation, Vdisk Allocation, increase disk, etc.
October 3, 20169 yr Author Thank you for pointing me to Windows Disk Management, but unfortunately it does not answer the questions. Disk Management would allow me to increase my partition size if there were unallocated space shown, but there isn't. Is there an intermediate step which tells the VM that additional hard drive space is available? I have rebooted everything.
October 3, 20169 yr Looks like I misunderstood your OP, there are 2 steps to resize a windows vdisk: step 1 - click the VM name and choose new size step 2 - go to disk management and expand disk to new size. What step are you having trouble with?
October 3, 20169 yr Author Step 1. Done No problem. Step 2. Go to disk management. No problem. The problem is, disk management does not show any unallocated space. It is as if I had not done Step 1 when, in fact, I have. Here is a possible wrinkle. My VM is stored on an Unassigned Device. It runs fine there, but could that be the reason this isn't working?

October 3, 20169 yr Author UPDATE This seems to be a problem with Windows Drive Manager. I loaded on a third-party partition manager and it was able to see the unallocated space that windows missed. Thanks for all your help.
