Docker for file uploads?

Featured Replies

I wasn't sure where to post this.  I'm wondering if someone can point me in the direction of a file upload docker (or something else even) for my server.  I've been looking at a few so far, but haven't found one for my needs.

Basically I'm looking for something that works like drop box, but without a file upload limit.  It also needs to be relatively simple for the uploader to use and reliable.

The main use is for people to upload video files to my server that I can use for editing.  The first project is about 1.5TB total worth of video files.  Most likely in 20-30Gb chunks, but could be larger.  The guy with the files knows how to use dropbox so something with that kind of simplicity should be pretty good.  The more drag and drop the better.

I've tried out owncloud, but there is a very small file size that can be uploaded.  An FTP server seems like it would fit my needs, but explaining to him how to use a FTP client seems complicated.  Same thing with turning his files into torrents.

I'm going to keep searching, but if one of you already have a solution that would be great.  Thanks!

The ProFTPd plugin would work well for this.

I thought with ownCloud that the maximum file size was configurable by the admin user?

You could also look at NextCloud as a fork of ownCloud.

There are very easy to use Windows FTP clients around, some even built into other tools.  For example, I use Total Commander, which has a built-in FTP client.  On the first connect, you put in your login and pass, then on later connections just click the Connect button with the selected site.  Then it's just a matter of selecting files and clicking Copy.  I'm sure the same exists on every other platform.
