March 22, 200719 yr Hi there I did the update of my UNRAID Server to 4.0-beta1 a couple of minutes ago. Before the update I had two SATA drives on the local SATA ports of the mobo and four PATA Drives on a promise controller. After the server was shut down, I took off the promise controller and connected the IDE cables to the two local IDE ports of the motherboard. I want to check if the nforce4 Chipset is now supported and if there is a substantial performance increase... The server was booting up really smoothly. Then I assigend the hard drives but now there is the problem: Unraid says, that two or more disks are wrong!!! There is the red dot in front of three drives. The drives are assigend correct (check the attached print screen). What can I do now? How can I start the array without llosing my data? Does "restore" work? Thank's for your help!!!! Thorsten
March 22, 200719 yr Looking at the size mismatch (1056 bytes), it appears you were a victim of the "mysterious shrinking disks" problem in 3.x release. We never figured out the cause of this problem, but suspect an obscure bug in linux 2.4 kernel. It seems like the 2.6 kernel has corrected this! You can Restore the array config (check "I'm sure" checkbox) which will correct the size mismatch (will also start a parity sync). Let the sync finish. BUT I suggest you first upgrade to 4.0-beta2

March 23, 200719 yr Author The parity sync finished with a speed I never had before. I can confirm that the nforce4 Chipset is now well supported for PATA and SATA drives! That was the improvement I was waiting for! Thanks to the Lime-Technology Team for the great effort! I'm happy now! Greets from Switzerland, Thorsten
