March 4, 201016 yr Author How di I run the preclear_disk.sh script on a drive that hasn't been assigned? Joe M.
March 4, 201016 yr Author Well, I assigned parity and started tha array. I didn't assign disk 9 to the array pending preclear_disk.sh script instructions. I hope this works. I have to go to sleep now but I'll be back in the AM. Thanks for all the help and good night, Joe M.

Download the preclear_disk.sh script from here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2817.0 Unzip it on your PC and copy it to the root of your flash drive. From your PC you can copy it to \\telnet\flash When you log in on the system console, or via telnet, the command will then be in the /boot directory To invoke it type: /boot/preclear_disk.sh /dev/sdj It will run for quite a few hours, so if you don't want to leave the telnet session up invoke it from the system console. It will erase everything on the disk by overwriting everything with zeros. There is no un-do, so it asks you to confirm it is what you want to do. It will automatically detect if you are trying to run it on a disk assigned to the array so it will protect you from running on the wrong disk. Joe L.
March 4, 201016 yr Author Joe L., You're the best. I should have come here right away. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent trying to figure this out on my own. I finally gave up and decided to start from scratch. You saved me a lot of hassle. I've recommended UNRAID to friends and on forums and it really is the best solution for most people who need expandable, safe data storage (especially media). Thank you, Joe M.
