Docker container hung during update, now cant access or remove

Featured Replies

I got a notification that there was an update to my Sonarr docker container. I clicked update. It downloaded the files without issue. When it came time to stop the docker container, it hung. Now my container has a version not available, and I cannot do anything to it.

If I try to delete it , stop it, update it, or start it, the webUI hangs for a while and nothing happens. I have attached a screenshot. I am not sure how to remove and recreate the container. I would hate to lose my config.

I am not familiar with docker ssh commands. Not sure what I can do from here.

docker kill NAMEOFCONTAINER

Then from the webGUI, delete the container (might possibly also be an orphan one there too) and reinstall via CA's Previous Apps section

Hi, thank you for the suggestion. I've issued this command docker kill Sonarr in the console and the console hangs and I get no response.

Not sure if this would have anything to do with it, but I was pre-clearing a new drive when I updated the container.

If it doesn't come back, then settings - Docker, Disable the service.

Reboot.  If the webUI gets stuck on unmounting disks, then open another ssh session

umount /var/lib/docker

Delete the docker.img and recreate it then re-add all the apps via CA's Previous Apps

Looks like Sonarr is just having a hissy-fit for you today

Ok, I will have to wait for the pre-clearing to finish and I will attempt the above.

1) Not sure what re-add all the apps vis CA's Previous Apps means. Is this the same as clicking add container and then selecting from Templates-user and one by one choosing my-CONTAINERNAME ?

2) Just to confirm, deleting and re-installing docker will not mess with previous configs/setup, since I assume it won't touch appdata, correct?

thank you for your help

Having Community Applications (Apps Tab) installed makes it a hair easier, but the net result is the same

Correct

Correct

Went back into my GUI and out of nowhere, I have 2 orphan images. I was able to remove them, and I reinstalled the Sonarr docker, and all is right with the world again. Thanks for the help.
