March 24, 200719 yr I've got everything up and running and I got the time issue straightened out. Thanks! Now a more serious problem. I copied over a few small files and everything went great. I then copied over 8 movies, about 15GB. It took about 90 minutes (is that reasonable with 100Mb connection?) and it worked fine. Then I copied over another 8 movies. I went to do it again 2 hrs later to find that it had an error. It said the network connection was lost after coping over 3 movies. Now, when I try to access that folder, explorer hangs for about a minute and then gives an error: "the specified network name is no longer available". I can then go to the disk's root and enter the other folders with no problems.ete The management page doesn't show any errors and says parity is valid. What happened? Can I get that folder back? If not, how do I del it since the files are still taking up about 20GB? I'm running beta2, so I'll upgrade to beta4 and see if that makes a difference. Thanks
March 24, 200719 yr Author Shutting down the server did not go smoothly. I clicked stopped on the main page, it said wait, but never responded. I eventually had to manually turn off the server by holding down the power button. I upgraded to beta4 and rebooted. It came up and started a parity check. I waited for that to finish. When done, I played a file from a different folder with no problem. I then played a file from the problem folder with no problem. I tried to copy a file over and it did the same thing again. I also tried coping a file to a different folder and have the same problem. So, I guess it's better to say that I can't copy any files to the server.
March 25, 200719 yr Please send me the syslog at point where folder is inaccessible. How to get the syslog: Method 1. From Windows telnet window type the command: cat /var/log/syslog Then right-click window title bar, click Edit -> Select All then Edit -> Copy. Create an email message and Paste the text. Method 2. From Windows telnet window, or console, type the command: cp /var/log/syslog /boot/syslog This will make a copy of the system log in the root directory of your Flash. Create an email message and attach the file. (To attach file, either copy directly from 'flash' share of your server, or remove Flash and plug into your PC.) Finally, send the email to [email protected].
June 12, 200719 yr Author Check out this Tom's first post in this thread. I believe I did Option 1 and everything has worked since then.
