January 27, 20179 yr Hi Guys, I am not one to request new Dockers, but I would really love to have a Docker that enables Sonos control from Alexa. There is a project on Github to do precisely that: https://github.com/rgraciano/echo-sonos It seems like there are 2 parts to this. The first one is something that allows node.js hosting and running the API locally. This is where I think a Docker should be able to do this fairly easily. It should hopefully work through reverse proxy...? The second part, is creating the Alexa skill in AWS. This is described in the github page for the project. I am not sure if every user has to create the skill for themselves, or if one person creates it and other people can use it and connect to their own Amazon account. Sonos is vacillating on the Alexa issue for a couple of years. Now they seem to want to create their own Alexa style device with voice control. Those speakers are pricey and I am not replacing them anytime soon with ones that include a microphone. Why add features to existing product when you can force people to buy a new version of your product. One generates revenue, the other is just a nice favor to your customer base. I would love to hear comments. Thanks, H.
January 27, 20179 yr Look into node-red docker. I saw it already being used by many with home-automation and even using unraid as the docker host. I know that is built on node.js technology.

Also, yes, EVERY user has to create and do their own AWS Setup since it has to know the IP/Hostname of where to route back the events.
January 27, 20179 yr Author Node-red is daunting..... I cannot even follow the HelloWorld tutorials out there.
