I'm preclearing a new 1.5TB WD EARS drive and was wondering while that is running if its a good idea to do alot of writing to another drive on the server.

I have about 500gigs of data I want to write to another drive that is in my array. Any issue to do it now or wait?

Sure hope it's not an issue because I've sure done it alot.  Can't see what it would be a problem.  When preclearing the drive isn't part of the array and when copying you are writing to the array.  Im my mind at least they are two completely separate entities and there should be no issue doing different things on them at the same time.  Kinda like formatting drive D in Windows while writing data to drive C.

They'll run fine together.  They are using entirely different disks.

Before you continue further, on the EARS drive did you install the JUMPER?

Yup, I did before installing the drive.
