/etc/fstab persistence or how to mount other than root

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I have a little situation here.  I have two unraid server, one exporting cifs shares to another.  Is there a way to persist modification to /etc/fstab?  Right now I have a few lines in my /boot/config/go script that create directories and mount cifs shares in those directories.  I am attempting to force a user for these mounts, however user root group root is always who ends up owning the directories, and then they are not writable.

Any suggestions welcome.

OK, so no one, then?

Could I put something in the go script to append proper fstab entries in /etc/fstab, and then run mount -a, also in the go script, to accomplish this?

Is there a reason you are not using the Unassigned Devices plugin to do this?    That would avoid you having to manipulate the /etc/fstab file.

Glad to hear it worked.  It will survive a reboot.  Having said that do a reboot to ensure you have the UD settings correct for persisting across reboots.
