PC died 1 day into trial :(

Featured Replies

Just my luck. Months of reading up, I finally find an older pc and set up unRaid, had just got done with the array, configuring apps when I hear a loud bang/flash and it dies! I have no idea what happened, maybe a short, maybe the PSU.

I have 29 days left in the trial. I'm not going to spend any money fixing this as I am slowly putting together my real server which will take some time.

- the drives and unraid install should transfer just fine to the new hw as I understand with no changes?

- is there any way to suspend my trial and resume when I get the new server up?

You can ask for an extension after the trial period ends... or just buy another 5 dollar flash drive.

Take your time putting the new server together. I think the build quality is generally an underappreciated quality in a smooth running server. Be neat. Using locking cables. Recommend drive cages (5in3, 4in3, etc.). You are disappointed to have a server die 1 day into use - imaging loosing one 1 year into use of a production array due to a short or PSU failure! You would not be lamenting a license but several drives of data that got fried. That would be infinitely worse!

Good luck with your build. Measure twice, cut once. :)
