May 6, 20179 yr I just added a drive to my monster unRAID server, this drive had been in another unRAID server and so unRAID is now doing a disk clearing. Does disk clearing usually run at a much faster speed then say a parity check? I am asking because I recently redid the cabling on my backplane to see if I would get faster speeds and right now this disk clearing is running very fast as you can see from the screen shot. Am I getting excited for nothing, will parity checks still run at the same speed as before or this new speed?
May 6, 20179 yr Community Expert Disk clearing will run at the speed the disk being cleared can support as no other Drive is involved.. Parity checks are constrained by your slowest disks, and perhaps by the total bandwidth available to your drives.
