Copy without parity

I setup a new server and want to copy everything from my old server. I setup the new server with parity at first then decided to stop the array (was still rebuilding but nothing on the server), unassign the Parity drive and perform the copy without the Parity. This is working well (and fast). After all the copying is done can I just assign the Parity drive and start the array? Will doing that erase anything already on my Data drives?

    Just assign it in the end and a parity sync will begin, it won't delete anything on the data disks.
