April 7, 200719 yr I just installed this SATABAY5BK from Startech today and I wanted to let you all know. OK, let's face it... I wanted to brag. I couldn't find in Canada the Cremax one that others here seem to be using. Actually, I can't really find anything Cremax in Canada. Anyway, it's a nice unit. Comes with all the trays, 5 nice long SATA cables with metal clips on the ends, and some screws. The pic on the website shows the unit on it's side. It actually installs flipped over. The manual was a little confusing and I'm happy to say that the online customer service email thing worked pretty well. I got a reply within a few hours. There are two SATA power connectors and three LP4 power connectors on the back. The entire unit is powered by using either one type or the other (both SATA power connectors only OR all three LP4 connectors). This was the confusion that I had and why I had to contact Customer Support. Each drive also has it's own power on/off switch on the front. It's very tiny and on the main unit, not the drive trays. There's a nice 80mm fan on the back and there is a high/low switch setting for it. There's also temp alarms, both visual and audible. Anyway, just thought some might like to know other options when it comes to the drive cages. Cheers
April 7, 200719 yr Nice. I'm curious to know how it works for you. It looks very similar to the products addonics sells here: http://www.addonics.com/products/raid_system/ae4rcs35nsa.asp I've been looking at the addonics ones for a build I am putting together.

Those look exactly the same! Right down to the connections on the back. I guess the question is does Startech make them or does Addonics make them? Or is there a third player who makes them for both Startech and Addonics? Still real early but things seem to be working great. Drives spin up and down individually and the temp seem to stay nice and low. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Cheers
April 8, 201016 yr Sorry for bringing up such an old post. Someone on my local craigslist is selling 2 of these for $80 each. I am currently using Coolermaster 4-in-3 Device Masters in a CM Stacker case. Is this a good product and price or would I be better off replacing my Coolermaster 4-in-3's with something else? thanks, Murray

I changed the 92MM fan to a GEILD temperature sensing version. http://www.supermicro.com/products/accessories/mobilerack/CSE-M35T-1.cfm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817121405 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817121404
