[SOLVED] Can't boot a new Windows 10 using OVMF

Featured Replies

I am trying to create a new Windows 10 VM with OVMF and it will not boot the Windows 10 iso image.  I get the UEFI shell.  If I set the BIOS as seaBIOS the Windows 10 iso image will boot.  I'm not sure if this is a 6.4 issue as I have not created any VMs for a long time.  I may fire up my test server in 6.3 and see if that works just as a test.

Anyone created a Windows 10 VM using OVMF in 6.4?

It works here. Did you press any key when the message "Press any key to boot from CD" appear?

It goes away fast, so type exit at the console and hit enter when in the bios. It should restart the VM and you should see the above message.

I seem to be having an issue with VNC.  It fails and I have to enter the name of the server in the 'Host' field to get VNC to work.  Maybe I am missing the boot CD message because it takes so long for me to get there.

It looks like the issue is with VNC.  I can't get it to work fast enough to respond to the boot from CD prompt.  Sort of solved.
