ACPI Errors on new box

Featured Replies

I moved my server from a home-built AMD FX 8-core machine to a Cisco C200 M2 this evening, and I'm seeing a bunch of ACPI errors in the log files.  I'm posting a few examples, plus my log files.

well those messages are annoying right?  Either this is a firmware/bios bug or we're missing a module in the kernel.  Full diags might be more useful.

Here's the diagnostic download.  I've added 3 modules to the system, and haven't noticed any more of these warnings.  I added ipmi_si, acpi_ipmi, and acpi_power_meter on a suggestion I found about SUSE linux having similar warnings.

Where did you see this?

Odd that those modules are not loaded on demand when server boots.  You can add the 'modprobe' commands to your 'go' file.

Also, can you try unRaid 6.3.5 and see if you get similar messages?  Maybe also do an 'lsmod' and see if those modules got loaded?

This is where I found the modules to load:

My main system is going through a parity check, but I do have 2 of these C200's running Unraid at the moment.  I haven't made any changes to the 2nd box and just checked the modules installed.  The first two that I loaded on my main box were loaded and present, the 3rd (acpi_power_meter) isn't present.  I'm going to try loading that single module in the go file on it just to see if it stops the issue.  I'll try rolling back to 6.3.5 as well.

Haven't rolled back yet, but adding the modules didn't affect the errors on that machine.  I'm guessing whatever triggers those warnings just hasn't happened since I insmod'ed those modules..

I'll try rolling back here shortly.

After about 10 minutes of uptime on 6.3.5, I still haven't seen those ACPI/IPMI errors/warnings on my second system (it WAS getting those on 6.4-rc2 within that timeframe).  I'll continue to monitor it and report back.

**EDIT** I added diagnostics for that system on 6.3.5, just in case it's needed.

Looking at system/lsmod.txt in your diags, those modules are not loaded in 6.3.5 either, yet no messages.  Interesting, maybe something with kernel.  I guess the thing to do is load those modules from your 'go' file to quiet things down, but as we release new kernel version, perhaps comment out those lines in 'go' and see of the messages still appear.

Looks like adding the acpi_ipmi, and acpi_power_meter to my go file has my 2nd server 'fixed' for the lack of a better word.  It's been up for approximately 30 minutes on 6.4rc2 without the warnings/errors.

*EDIT* Been up for 2+hrs, no IPMI/ACPI issues.

Just an update, I'm at 20+ hrs uptime, without any of those above errors.  Seems like modprobing the missing 2 modules have fixed the issue.
