Add new disk and assign parity. You can order a pro license whenever you choose to. It could take some time before you get your key back.
April 18, 201016 yr I am somewhat in alignment with post #1. Different case, and probably different mobo but all the rest the same. I did buy the Pro License (2) and got the key in 3 days, and the second a week later. Tom indicated when he sent the first key that he was out of flash drives but expected them on Friday. I have one Disk in the array and will be adding a second precleared disk tomorrow, and keeping a fourth precleared disk as spare. I moved five BR movies to the array and they all seem to play perfectly on the Dune 3.0 base player, at least they start as expected and no glitches in the first 15 minutes of any of them. Tuesday I will start the process of moving all my BR movies to the array. I normally rip the disks onto storage on my development system which has the BR reader, and then copy them to the array overnight. I have a nice copy program that will copy any directory tree to anyplace duplicating the original tree structure with lots of verbosity (messages about each file it deals with) if desired.
April 20, 201016 yr Author i ordered my key yesterday and received it today. i'm currently pre-clearing my two unassigned disks ... both are 1tb ... guess it'll be a while i had a small scare ... the AOC-SASLP-MV8 wasn't recognizing my hard disk ... after some trial/errror, it seems the sas cable connection wasn't as tight as it should have been. looking forward to fill up my server ... only problem is molex cable connections from my corsair hx750, i only have 8 .. two of them are being used to feed the rear 80mm fans, one of them feeds the backplane fans. i guess i will need a custom molex power cable, but i'm still not sure how to do it.
April 20, 201016 yr i only have 8 .. two of them are being used to feed the rear 80mm fans, one of them feeds the backplane fans. For fans you can go with the 1 to 2 molex adapter cables and chain them together. You could also consider changing the 80MM fans to 80MM fans that connect to the motherboard. There was someone who found a PCIe 6PIN to Molex adapter. I'm sure that could support the fans also. EDIT. There is also a fan controller that uses the PCI Slot. So if you got adapters or new fans that could be used. Tom uses this to control the fans on his server. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999046
