I try to use my DVD writter in a VM but all my attempts have failed.

I tried this:

  <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='scsi' managed='no' rawio='yes'>
    <source>
      <adapter name='scsi_host11'/>
      <address type='scsi' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/>
    </source>
    <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/>
  </hostdev>

And a few other variations but nothing seems to work.

Has anyone ever done that kind of thing?

If no one else has a suggestion for you that works you might try what I am going to this weekend.  I passed a USB 3.0 controller to a VM and just got in a USB 3.0 external enclosure for my BluRay drive.  I'm going to test it out some time this weekend and see if it will work for me.  I don't anticipate any problems since I'm passing through the WHOLE USB controller.
