USB not bootable

Featured Replies

Hey,

I wanted to try out, if unRAID would run on my server.

I prepared the bootable USB with the installation tool and after it finished, I wntad to boot it on my server.

After the normal boot sequence it tried to boot off the USB but it said the USB was not bootable.

Now i´m a bit frutrated and wanted to know if ths is a common problem or if it could hang together with my hardware.

Thanks in Advance

Luis Stepp

Put the usb file in your computer. On the flash you should see a file called make_bootable.bat run that. Then put it back in your server and boot it and see if that fixes it.

It appears you've set the boot device to be a Usb floppy. Usually it's set in the BIOS as a Usb hard drive. Can you manually select the flash from the on the fly boot order (f12?)

First thank you very much for the quick reply,

@Squid In my boot order the USB is the first one.. Also this Server doesn´t ever had an floopy reader..

@gridrunner Yout tip actually helped :D, even if I now ask myself why they didn´t implemented this in the preperation tool..

Thank you both very much
