December 23, 20178 yr Hello UnRaid community! I have a problem, but I wanna say first, that this is my first server build, and I went full in on it. And it's also my first time using UnRaid on a machine. So bare with me (also from Denmark. And know my English is not the best - sorry guys!) But I bought 2x Segeate BarraCuda 4TB drives from Newegg. I precleared both drives from the GUI, but already there, one of the drives was showing some issues. When the drive got to around 47% in the pre-read stage it drops from an avg of 180 MB/s to 0.0 kb/s and would not move at all. Left it for around an hour, and decided to stop both preclears, and reboot the server, as the S.M.A.R.T data on both drives also disappeared. But the other drive never failed or stopped the pre-clear. But sometimes when I look in the log files, their is "a lot" of random bad sectors showing after a few hours of running. And I don't even got any data on the drive yet, still setting up network shares, so i can get an ISO for installing windows and linux. But if the drive is bad, it don't really make any sense for me to do so :-( I don't really know what logs of files, to show U guys, hope someone would be really helpful and maybe guide me through it. That would be really awesome! My "setup": A AsRock ep2c606 serverboard with two xeon 2670 cpu's 2x Segeate 4TB BarraCuda drive. (One in parity and the other one as "a normal" disk) I'm just using the included SATA cables from the motherboard package and one SATA power cable for both drives. Hope someone will maybe try and help me, if i should return the item, or if it is normal, but just me? Merry Christmas to U all and a happy new year - Best regards, Bryde.

December 24, 20178 yr Author I am using the first "two" white ports as u mention. But my SSD cache is the first white SATA port on the buttom, and i think my parity HDD is on top of it. And the "normal" drive in the next row. But what diagnostics are u talking about? How do i make them/find them? Is it the Diagnostics under "Tools" i must press? Thanks for your quick response U are a true pal! Can't thank u enough for helping me! EDIT: Added the diagnostics tower-diagnostics-20171224-0111.zip Edited December 24, 20178 yr by Brydezen
December 24, 20178 yr Author Thanks johnnie.black - Have move the drive down to the two intel SATA3 port and one in the first blue SATA2 port. But why is it better to use the intel port over the Marvell controller ports? And one more question; I cant see the current shares from an external connection, but if its local on the GUI server, i can see them all. And when i try to create a new one from my macbook I just get a blank page? It was adblocker messing with me - whitelisted my server and is now good to go Merry Christmas btw! Oh okay. Wish I would have known that before buying the board then. But felt in love with all the PCIe x16 lanes it had, and support for dual socket CPU's. Do u have any recommendations for a cheap raid controller or something, when i need to expand the storage or some other cheap solutions? For moving from the 3 GB/s SATA up to 6 GB again? :-)

Sounds great! Then i will move the two HDD's down to the SATA2 connectors. As i think i will be buying a ssd more for dockers, vms and what not. Dont think my 240 GB ssd cache is going to be enough. But many thanks to U! Awesome U took the time to help me out! ?? Merry Christmas from Denmark!
December 27, 20178 yr Author Is there by any chance you know why my keyboard "lags"/freezes a button when playing games? It works with no problem at all when I'm just surfing the web on my windows gaming vm. I'm using it with a gtx 1060, and a HDMI cable in the monitor. But when I play league of legends, or almost any of my steam games. (all hosted on the unraid server through a share) - I have to press the button twice for it to do anything. And when I release the finger of the keyboard, and my character will walk forward forever, until i press another button.. It's really annoying, and have searched the forums, with no luck. Have tried starting the vm up without the keyboard attached, and attached it with the "Libvirt Hotplug USB" plugin. but still some lag/delay. No torrents, download or anything is running other than the game itself. Hope u have the magic answer! And hope U had a good Christmas EDIT: Just tried a local game of minecraft, and its the same with the keyboard. And i know the keyboard is not the problem, as it works perfectly normal on my laptop that i used to game on :-( Edited December 27, 20178 yr by Brydezen
