December 26, 20178 yr So this is my issue, I have unraid on a USB and when i boot into the GUI on the machine i have interent and can browse around on firefox, HOWEVER localhost on that machine wont connect nor can i connect usig any other PC i own, i have tried 3 usb drives in case that was the problem and 2 motherboards in case that was the problem. I have done regular DHCP for ip address and static ip address both through unraid and my router. My router is PfSense custom build so i have all the options in the world to try things out but nothing seems to work. Im switching from freenas so i have about 12TB of data sitting in external drives waiting to go into unraid since im fed up with FreeNas causing me issues. I have 21TB in the machine for UNRAID but i cant get past the not able to access it. My router sees the maching and says its online but i cant do anything with it other than the manual GUI that cant even connect to its own self.
December 26, 20178 yr Since you have access to the GUI on the console (if I am reading your post correctly), try this: Go to Tools >>> Diagnostics and click on that icon. That should write a Diagnostics file somewhere on the flash Drive--- Probably in the logs directory/folder. If successful, post that up in a new post. If not, take a sharp non-blurry photo of the Settings >>> Network Settings page.

I just get Unraid web interface (says not connected) Unraid documentation (I can go to that site) Terminal Htop Midnight commander
December 27, 20178 yr Shutdown the server. Pull the flash drive out. Plug it into another computer. Open up the logs folder/directory in the root of that dive. You will find a file named tower-diagnostics-20171226-1111.zip and that is the file to upload.
December 27, 20178 yr Author Ive tried multiple times, neither time did the file or usb drive change. even after it "saved" here is a clip of the usb drive after removing it and putting it on my PC
December 27, 20178 yr Then what is this in the photo in your second post? ( /boot is where the flash drive in mounted in the Linux file system.)

December 27, 20178 yr The symptoms reported imply that Unraid booted ok off the USB drive but the USB drive failed to be mounted on /boot. There are several this to check/try: - Can you confirm that the drive is formatted as FAT or FAT32. - If plugged into a USB 3 slot try putting it in a USB 2 slot if you have any.

It is in Fat32 i even use the unraid software to make the usb. Ill be putting up a youtube clip soon to showcase me installing the usb software then what it does so everyone can get a better understanding.
December 27, 20178 yr Author Here is the devices im running my test bench that it wont work on: ASRock X370 Killer SLI - With a ryzen 5 1400 My main Server that is also doesnt work on: Asus STRIX Z270G GAMING - With a I7 7700K I use Cat6a cables and run a PfSense router, passes through a linksys for wireless.
December 27, 20178 yr Author i do get this error when loading /dev/disk/by-label/UNRAID not found or something of the like. im not home so cant quote it. Could that be contributing to this issue? Based on what you ask, it seems like there should be more on the usb after booting the system up then shutting it down, but its the same files/folders as it were when i made it

Not contributing, that IS the issue. That means your USB is not being detected and mounted, so nothing in the config files is being read or applied, and you can't save diagnostics to the USB cause it's not mounted.
December 27, 20178 yr The USB drive should have the label UNRAID, and should after boot then show up as a symlink wit the name /dev/disk/by-label/UNRAID -> ../../<actual device name> This is used to mount the thumb drive after the system has performed the initial boot sequence. If you insert the USB stick in another computer - does the stick show the volume label 'UNRAID'?

December 27, 20178 yr If that does work, try boot it in another computer. (I believe I saw a laptop also in the video. unRAID will not write to any HD on any device UNLESS you tell it to!)
