Read / Write Performance

Featured Replies

This is really getting to be a killer issue for me, nothing can be written to the tower at all while a read is going on without glitches with the read.  This should be the NEXT fix for sure.

As I am not a current user of the UnRAID this is the one thing that has stopped my purchase of the unraid. The main thing I will use the server for is store data, but I also plan on moving my entire DVD collection over to the server and I want to be able to access these from the 2 HTPC's that I have!  I have been delaying buying the unRaid until this will be fixed, but with my HD's spinning and no protection, I might have to pull the trigger early!

Read performance is ok, as long as you don't try to write to the server at the same time.  If you plan on putting your music, ripped DVDs, etc on the server and want to server them to the two HTPCs you will be fine.  Just don't try to write to the server at the same time.

I wanted to actually use the UnRaid as the storage for SageTV, my pvr app.  I've found that this just does not work as the writing to the server causes corruption in the video due to performance problems.  So I just put my music and DVDs, on the server and use it pretty much for readonly acceses.

Hoping one day to get the local drives out of my HTPC.
