July 13, 201015 yr Setup: Mobo: ASUS M4A78L-M - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131608 Card: AOC-SASLP-MV8 - http://ncix.com/products/?sku=37999 Cables: Norco C-SFF8087-4S - http://ncix.com/products/?sku=48798 Cage: Norco SS-500 - http://ncix.com/products/?sku=48405 I've just installed this card on my mobo's x16 slot and attached two drives to it through the cage using the cables above. On boot up the marvell adapter says something to the effect of "no devices detected!". Sure enough, the drives do not show up on the devices page. The other drive in the cage works fine connected to the mobo and green lights are on for all three drives so I don't think it's the cage. Ideas?
July 14, 201015 yr Warning! This is my very very very first post on this board. So, if I say something stupid, please be kind... but, I had the same symptom when I built my system a few weeks back... using the same AOC-SASLP-MV8 card. My problem was that I was trying to use a "reverse" break-out cable, which appears to be what you are using ( Norco C-SFF8087-4S ). Reading other posts on the board, I tried ordering a "forward" break-out cable, and that fixed the problem. The cable I ordered was made by 3ware - model CBL-SFF8087OCF-06M. The "F" near the end of the model number indicating "forward" break-out. Here's the link to the cable on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Sata-0-6-Meter-Breakout-Cable/dp/B000HVXCXO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1279079006&sr=8-1 Good Luck.
July 14, 201015 yr On boot up the marvell adapter says something to the effect of "no devices detected!". Definitely replace the cable you are using, being there done that until replaced with cable like this one then everything is fine. http://www.centralcomputers.com/commerce/ccp73860-sff-8087-sas-sata-breakout-cable--forward--m-4m--0-cab-s36st7mb.htm
July 14, 201015 yr Author Shoot, I was afraid it was the cables. New forward breakout cables ordered.
July 14, 201015 yr FYI, the "official" CBL-0097L-02 are the correct Supermicro cables for AOC-SASLP-MV8 (1 x) SAS to (4 x) SATA. I had exactly the same issue going from (1 x) SAS backplane to (4 x) SATA card (AOC-SAT2-MV8), in which case CBL-0116L was needed. Cheers, -jj-
January 30, 201115 yr I was going to say the first thing I noticed they are the wrong cables. Sorry to hear, but at least you know the problem.

Cheers, -jj- So I just ordered a AOC-SASLP-MV8 and I am a bit confused. So is the official one from Supermicro the CBL-0097L-02? Did you use a CBL-0116L? I am looking to order now the correct cable so I want to make sure I get it right. I am hooking up SATA drives to it.
