VM need 2 starts

Featured Replies

Hi, its not a big issue, just wondering why one of my VM´s always needs 2 Starts.

from the log, bold underline 2018-01-21 07:37.... that shutdown is always happening when i start the VM the 1 st time, i have no idea cause it looks like a clean shutdown ;)

as seen here, the 2nd boot 2018-01-21 07:38... the mashine stays up ...

only difference i see is the domain id counting up ... but that shouldnt be the issue i guess.

may a way to automatically make a double start ? not a real solution, but ... ;)

as i said, if somebody has an idea, thanks ahead, its not a big deal when u know to startup 2 times ;)

what guide did you follow to create it?

  • Author

well, no big things.

1 passed through a nvidia 1070 with rom load and a usb card, thats it.

rest is pretty straight forward.

i think i remember i had this before some time ago ... but im not completely sure.

you answered a question I did not ask.

if this is windows or OS X, then not following a guide can lead to stability issues.

  • Author

it is win10 1709.

i usualy always setup like described in unraid wiki.

i followed then the guide for extracting the gpu rom and loaded it.

then i followed the sticky PC passthrough guide for the extra USB card.

So, when its started its all good, just the boot "before" the OS it quits, when i check the screen i see the Tiano RAM Test, and black screen ,,,

no errors or so, next start i see the Tiano Ram Test, then the circle from win10 boot, all fine.

My 2nd win10 VM is also running a Nvidia GT1030 (work only), pretty much same setup (here i have passed through the onboard USB controller), just as note.

My 3rd win10 VM is only a VNC guest, also booting as expected, no paased through devices as its an working mashine only (ciscoVPN for work).

as a test to help determine where the fault is, what happens when you boot without the usb and GPU and use vnc only?

  • Author

pretty funny, i did disabled and yes, regular start went fine, then added nvidia, also good, then added USB, also good now ;)

thanks for the point, just works now without any changes ;)
