Deploying unRAID servers

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I was just wondering how many of you have deployed unRAID servers to friends, family, or clients? I recently setup a server at a friends store because she lost her hard drive and I told her she would... so she called me and built her a quick unRAID server running 4.0 beta so she can try it out.

I was wondering if any of you have any feedback how the servers have performed under the stress of the environments that you put them in.

What are your clients using them for?

I currently have my friends laptop + desktop at work running weekly backups of her My Documents and few other select folders using the Windowns Backup Tool. I also have an Outlook back utility backing up daily.

What other automatic programs are you guys using with unRAID?

Great question!

We backup all our development systems to an unRAID server using rsync & a cron job.

I use a program called MirrorFolder to synchronize home PC's to an unRAID server.

MirrorFolder eh? I will have to take a look at the program.

I use it for storing HD recordings as they record... these are big 6+ gig files.

So far so good, although I would like the ability to spin down all my drives but my recording drive...

Tom,

MirrorFolder is pretty nice little program. I was very happy to see a 30 day free trial and it is nice and easy to use!!

Thank you for the heads up!
