April 12, 20188 yr Hi, I am just getting comfortable with the whole encryption idea and I thought back to the RC phase where I read something about restricted start, but it got removed in a later RC. What is the status of this, I think there is a valid usecase for this: starting the array with only unencrypted disks but still be able to run dockers, plugin, services... All the best
May 8, 20188 yr Restricted start was taken out because during development a number of conflicting situations had occurred. When the array was in a non-perfect state and had unmountable disks, it could happen that the user accidentally and unintensionally formatted encrypted disks with valid information. I don't remember all the details, but it was decided to go for safety first. You could make it a feature request, but back at the time it wasn't 100% foolproof.
