August 15, 201015 yr Is there away to get all the drive information from all your drives? What I mean is, Manufacture, model, serial, firmware, manufacture date. Even the location, speed and cache would be nice. Thanks
August 15, 201015 yr Is there away to get all the drive information from all your drives? What I mean is, Manufacture, model, serial, firmware, manufacture date. Even the location, speed and cache would be nice. Thanks hdparm -i /dev/??? and hdparm -I /dev/??? are about the easiest. To determine the drive's location you need next year's model with the built-in GPS tracking feature. Then, you need to correlate the returned latitude, longitude, and height returned from the GPS chipset to a specific slot in your array. There will be a new hdparm command specifically for this hdparm --wthaw /dev/sdX (whtaw is simply an acronym for "Where the heck are we?") This is still in development though, as the PC case, metal drive trays and disk enclosures make it difficult to pinpoint a specific disk in an urban environment. Joe L.
August 15, 201015 yr Author Oh Joe, your funny. What I meant by location was sda, sdb, sdc etc. It would be nice if this was a script for unmenu that listed all this informaion For example SDA, Hitachi, Model #, Serial #, firmware, manufacture date, speed and cache
August 15, 201015 yr I am working on a plugin for that in -beta2. It also includes disk inventory such as date purchased, date to be replaced, etc. The preliminary parts are in BubbaTools for 5.0
