August 26, 201015 yr I've had this problem for a while and it's been frustrating me. If I try to copy a file to a folder which is part of a share, I often get the message that there's not enough room and it can't be copied. UnRaid doesn't make any attempt to create an identical folder on a drive where there's free space. In other words: Try copying to -- http://tower/tvshows/Weeds and there's no space. But if I manually go to disc2/tvshows and create the Weeds sub-directory, I can then move the file directly to that disc. The file the properly appears in http://tower/tvshows/Weeds, but why couldn't I move it directly there in the first place? This seems to be a problem with high water marks and those settings, but as much as I've fooled around with them, I can't seem to fix this. I'm running 4.5.1 but have had the issue on previous versions as well. Thanks, as always, for the help. Dave
August 26, 201015 yr For your Share, what do you have for: Allocation Method Min Free Space Anything in Include or Exclude Disks? You already mentioned Split Level 1. This allows (if I remember right - quite confusing) tvshows to span disks but would not allow Weeds to span disks. So at Split Level 1, everything for Weeds would need to be on the same disk. I would imagine that tvshows/weeds is on disk1 and disk1 does not have the free space. Try modifying the share to split level 2, then try to copy a Weeds file.

Would love to get this fixed. It's my last remaining issue with UnRaid! Thanks for the help, Dave
August 27, 201015 yr I believe changing the split level will resolve your issue. 1 other point that I read somewhere in the forums/wiki/wherever else recommending a value in Min Free Space. If I recall, they were mainly talking about media files and that if your normal rip/recording was around 10GB (just an example) that you might want to specify Min Free Space (1 = 1k if I recall) slightly larger. May have dealt with how the copies were being done and if the total file size was preallocated upfront or grew in size as the copy took place. If it grew in size as it occurred, then could get a failed copy because it started on a disk and then the disk filled up before finishing the copy. And so it would just error out. Wish I had bookmarked it then, along with many other points of interest that I can't find easily again to include an excellent description of split level with excellent examples.
August 27, 201015 yr Any sub-directories under the Weeds directory? How much free space on your disks? Using level 2 means that unRAID can create a Weeds directory on as many disks as necessary. However, unRAID will not duplicate season sub-directories across disks. So, if you were trying to fill a season directory (Say adding season 6 episode 2) after it has already been created then it will fail if the disk is full. You could use a split level of 3 if you are OK with the season files being spread over a bunch of disks. If you don't care at all then just set a high split level number. The files will then just go wherever there is free space. To help more you'll have to give your disks and free space on each and what Weeds directories are on what disks. Peter
