High CPU usage when moving files/transcoding in plex

Featured Replies

Hi.

So lately I have some problems when unRaid moves large files or transcodes from plex (To clarify, I don't move files, sab and other systems moves files, like downloaded iso from cache to array). If this happends at the same time, all my dockers freeze (unraid works, just no dockers), and I have to wait for the file transfer to finish before any docker is accesable. This have been reproduced several times.

I thought this first was a Plex (official limetech version) issue, changed to binhex plexpass version, same issue.

The weird thing is that my unRaid gui shows up to 100% cpu load, all dockers are frozen (plex server unreachable) but in terminal (top) and in dynamix stats, it shows almost 0% load.

Attached are some imgs, and my full syslog.

I am aware I'm not on latest unraid, going to upgrade tonight, but can't see any other having this issue in any version :(

Hopefully something I did wrong somewhere.prozac-server-diagnostics-20180813-1749.zip

does your CPU spike when a new file is added to plex? Maybe it's plex creating thumbnails which will cause your CPU to spike - mine does.

Maybe try changing your plex settings in Library to do as a scheduled task rather than when added, or not at all if you don't use them.

Yes it does load a bit when adding, but this shouldn't give me 100% cpu usage on a 6core 12thread ryzen 1600. And the load starts way before plex starts to create thumbnails. Starts when the file is transfering from cache to array.

Upgrading to 6.5.3 in an hour, will try test again after this unless anyone has some good ideas in the mean time :)
