normal for new folders/files on user shares not to show up until rescan?

Featured Replies

I've just grown my system to 3 data drives with movies being on 2 of them, so my user share of MOVIES is now virtual to the 2 physical drives. I noticed that when I created a new folder on one of these drives I did not see that folder via windows explorer until I clicked on "re-scan" in the media control interface. I created the share directly to one of the disks, not to the virtual user share. I'm wondering if this is normal and I'll have to rescan everytime I add movies or have I done something wrong?

TIA

that's normal for the shares

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll have to remember to add that to my list of procedures. (note to self)

What is 'normal' now though, may not be for long.  From elsewhere on the forums, User Shares is still 'under development', Tom is still working on or testing the finished version.  I'm guessing 're-scan' is a temporary workaround.  Don't quote me though.

Yeah Tom talked about this for 4.1.  No more rescan will be needed.
