How to reset BIOS on Asrock EP2C602

Featured Replies

Can someone with this board, or even a variant, explain how to reset the BIOS? The manual seems to indicate there is a clear CMOS jumper, but I can't find it. I tried taking the battery out, but that didn't help.

Thanks

It's not a jumper, it's a pad, you need to short it with a screwdriver or similar, it's on the manual a few inches below the battery, though removing the battery for a minute or so (with the PSU unplugged) will accomplish the same.

Thanks, the manual is crap. I've attached a photo of a section of my board, I've disconnected the power and pulled the battery, I'm still not sure what I have to do next?

Wait a minute, re-insert the battery and power on.

I did that already and it didn't help my situation. But I'll do it again.

Yep, nothing, no power just blinking green lights on the board, one in the top left corder which I think is IPMI and one by the power connector.

Means there's a problem a CMOS reset can't fix.

I think I am going to take the board out of the chassis and hook it up to another power supply just to see if I can get it to power up. I can't imagine why anything would be shorting the board as the board this replaced was the same size. I did use different screws though to attach the motherboard to the stand offs as some of the ones I removed were stripped, could that cause a short?

Al long as they are the standard screws, i.e., if they stay inside the little white circle, it won't short, though it's good to check there aren't any standoffs in the wrong place.

All fixed, was motherboard standoffs shorting the board. I feel like such a fool falling for such a rookie mistake.

Thanks everyone for their help.
