Here some Infos abbout my Setup:

Ryzen CPU with onboard GPU ( atm the Unraid GPU )

32GB Ram

MSI Mainboard

GTX 1060 ( My Windows VM )

I will put into this Setup a old NVS290 PCIE X1 Video Card. Its is posiible that i can use ths GPU then for the UnRaid Video Output and use the OnBoard GPU for an VM / GPU Pass Through. Then atm is it so , when i try to install a VM with Pass Through with the AMD GPU / Sound unRaid must be restarted or on start the Vm iam became a Error.

So i hope you unterstood what i mine.

AMD GPU / Sound - I will use for Linux VM per HDMI

NVS290 - I will use for unRaid

GTX 1060 - i will use it for Windows VM

It is possible and what must i do ? Some Tips for the Setup ?

A couple of things worth noting here.

  • While there are plenty of folks out there with working Ryzen configurations, virtualization (specifically GPU pass through) on AMD systems is buggy at best, so it's a bit of "swim at your own risk".  If you want a guaranteed experience, you should stick with Intel.

  • Passing through an IGD (integrated graphics device) is possible, but again, Intel hardware is recommended.  Your mileage may vary with AMD.

  • While every motherboard can be a little unique, we generally stay away from brands like MSI and Gigabyte.  The motherboards that seem to provide the most reliable experiences for folks tend to be ASRock, Supermicro, and ASUS.  Of course you can choose to use others, but again, your mileage may vary.

  • Without knowing the exact MSI motherboard you are using, I can't really look up the motherboard manual, but one of the areas that the "lesser brands" tend to have issues with is forcing graphics through the IGD.  Can you take a picture of your motherboard BIOS setting where this is configured?  If I remember correctly in my last experience with MSI, they don't actually give you an option to force graphics through the IGD.

  • The NV290 card you reference looks like it's an older NVIDIA Quadro card, which should work fine with pass through, but again, not entirely sure because we've never used that exact card before.

Hey jonp,

okay Intel its nice but dont have atm the Money to buy another Intel System 😛 The Mainboard witch i use is the MSI B350M PRO-VDH. At Bios i can setup/force witch Video Adapter the PC use. I boot up unRAID with the AMD GPU and use the Nvidea CPU without any Problem with my Windows VM.I  Wars hoping will be easier to setup a second VM but wth the AMD GPU. Next Time i will buy Intel again 😄

Thanks for Help
